Support Groups
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Support Group is meeting virtually through Zoom on the first Sunday and third Tuesday of the month. One meeting each month is an “open discussion” where members can share information and concerns; while the other meeting is an informational presentation about treatment options, medication, available devices and the importance of self-care.

Individuals and families living with epilepsy or other seizure disorders oftentimes feel socially isolated due to the stigma associated with this neurological disorder. The support group provides a community connection for individuals, families, and caregivers and features local resources, speakers and an opportunity to share their experiences, ask questions and offer each other emotional comfort.
JoshProvides offers a monthly Epilepsy Support Group on the first Tuesday of the month at State College of Florida, Lakewood Ranch Campus. Funding for the support group is provided by the Lakewood Ranch Community Fund of Manatee Community Foundation. A grant from the Arthur T. Esslinger Memorial Fund at the Community Foundation of Sarasota County provides funding for ITN Transportation to and from the monthly support group for individuals who cannot drive due to seizures.
