A Path Towards Healing

Hello. My name is Dan, and I live in Oro Valley, Arizona. I have been asked to share something about my journey with epilepsy.

My epilepsy diagnosis came in October 2021. I was eating breakfast one day and collapsed on the kitchen floor. Although I did experience an aura, there was no time to do anything. After arriving at the hospital, I had another seizure. There were also other injuries. The next day, after a videoconference with a neurologist, I was diagnosed with epilepsy. The news was shocking.

No more driving. Follow this medication schedule. Make an appointment at a specialty hospital in Phoenix. Get a Lifeline fall detection system. Update estate plans.

It was a flurry of information, it was life-changing, and I was still in the hospital. What nobody told me was how to live with this diagnosis.

Then came JoshProvides. After someone with a family member with epilepsy told me about it, I called and spoke with Andria. Through listening, understanding, a litany of information and resources, she set me on a path toward healing.

I was offered the opportunity to apply for grants, connected with others through the Support Group, and given the tools I needed to move forward in life despite this disease. Without JoshProvides, I don’t know where I would be today.

I am grateful for the work of the staff, tireless dedication of the Chapnick family, and Josh’s deeply meaningful legacy. Thank you. I wish everyone reading this peace and health.
