With over thirty-nine years of legal and business experience, Bruce is a member of the business and corporate planning group and estate and gift tax planning group and of counsel in the Sarasota law firm of Kate Smith Law Group. He received his undergraduate degree in 1969 from West Virginia University, a Masters degree in 1970 from The Ohio State University and his law degree in 1974 from West Virginia University. Bruce serves as a member of the Business Law, Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Sections of the American Bar Association and the Florida Bar. He is also a member of the Ohio State Bar Association, The Florida Bar, and the Sarasota County Bar Association.
Bruce’s past experience includes serving as a principal associated with M C Company, a financial services firm, which specialized in developing creative and sophisticated estate, gift and charitable tax planning techniques and retirement benefit planning. He also served as Executive Vice President, Secretary and Director of American Waste Services, Inc. and was responsible for coordinating the initial public offering of the Company in October 1990. For fifteen years, Bruce served as a member and partner in the Youngstown, Ohio law firm of Nadler, Nadler & Burdman Co., LPA. Bruce has spoken at a number of notable conferences and seminars on business organizations and planning, estate and gift tax planning, employee benefits, tax shelters and security matters, which include the Ohio Division of Securities 1991 Annual Conference, the prestigious Million Dollar Round Table Annual Conference and the Florida Bar “Planning for Incapacity Seminar”. He has also taught advanced estate and gift tax planning on behalf of the American College, of Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. His areas of practice include business, corporate and financial planning, mergers and acquisitions, business succession and retirement benefit planning and estate, gift and charitable tax planning.
Bruce served as a Board Emeritus for Epilepsy Services of SWFL and he is a co-founder of JoshProvides Epilepsy Assistance Foundation, organized in honor of and in memory of his son, Joshua David Chapnick. Bruce, his wife, Sandi, daughter, Nicole, and granddaughter Skylar reside in Sarasota, FL.
